Children and Youth
As children and youth grow up, they encounter new experiences, mixed emotions and changes in their lives which could make growing up an overwhelming and difficult journey for children. Whether they may be feeling sad, lonely, bullied, anxious or struggling with emotional issues, we are here to help you!
We specialize in helping children to cope with anxiety, depression, social and emotional issues, problematic behaviour, impulsive behaviour, stress, mood swings, vocational guidance, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, toileting issues, school refusal, trauma, and bereavement among other issues.
When working with children and youth, we offer them to process their problems, difficulties and emotions using a variety of hands-on concrete approaches to facilitate therapeutic work. Play therapy includes, drawing, journaling, playing games, role playing, art, and use of narratives to help children process their feelings and express themselves more openly in a sensitive and non-judgemental environment.
The counselling session is typically 50 minutes long. Sometimes, longer sessions may be required to review your child’s progress and discuss parenting concerns or to provide parenting training.

Family and Parents
At Harmony Counselling we assist family members and parents to effectively deal with family problems, parenting issues, divorce/separation process, and/or adoption. We provide tips, strategies, and useful tools to best support your love one while improving their behaviour.
We work with parents so they can understand approaches and techniques to effectively assistant them to deal with family problems, parenting issues, divorce/separation process, attachment issues, defiance among other issues. Positive and healthy parent-child relationship is a predictor of fewer behavioural problems, higher academic performance, greater social competence, and positive self-esteem.
It is also important to work together with parents and their children as they have the greatest impact on their child’s life. This allows parents to understand their child better, develop a stronger attachment, and utilize new strategies to maximize your child’s potential. In our counselling sessions, you learn a variety of techniques, tools, and parenting tips to best support your child and your family that work best for you and your family.
Parents’ intake session is the first step we take to gain the developmental history of your child and family as well as identify the current issues and family dynamics. The intake session is completed in one 50 to 75 minutes session. Setting up goals would help us to decide whether to start therapy with you and your child, the family as a whole or only with certain family members.
